Hydrangeas - Print
The "Hydrangeas" was the first of the floral collection. I created it at the beginning of the Covid-19 shutdowns. Spring was on the horizon, but many weeks of cold, dreary days were left in Chicago. I needed to make something bright and comforting that captured winsome and peace during those uncertain times.
The cut paper detailing of the floral vase mimics the artistry of the antique porcelain jars used in ancient China to store spices. The torn pink bits of newspaper form in likeness to the hydrangea's soft petals and the fullness of the flowers bring attention while gracing us with their beauty.
